A modern romance, beautifully scripted by Ms. Mahal. As I use to mention, I love reading short novellas. Sometimes, I use to feel the novellas are too short and not have much depth. But, The Contract was a perfectly short and sweet novella.

Hussain is suave and rich. He is nobody’s fool…and is not about to be bested by the ex-schoolteacher he is married to. He has Shahira in his sights and she has to have all her wits about her in order to hold him at arm’s length.
The main character, Shahira is a divorcee with a young son and marries our hero, Hussain based on a mutually agreed contract. But, the story develops as real feelings develop between them and how they finally get a happily ever after! I agree that this is not a new concept, I myself has read lots of books with same concept but, the way the story and characters are depicted, I fell in love with them. Shahira and Hussain were awesome characters. Shahira was so independent and feisty, I loved her interactions with Hussain. Hussain was fabulous, once he knew the real woman whom he married, he showed his honest feelings to Shahira and wooed her. I loved how Shahira (only at the end !) and
Hussain, even though they suffered a lot from their previous marriages,
were ready to take risk and finally opened their life to love and
trust.
Secondary characters especially, Hussian's mom was great, trying to play matchmaking and all. Overall, the story was very enjoyable except few tiny teeny parts were i felt the book was not perfect for me. For example, multiple povs, and it changed every few lines, was confusing sometimes. But, still as i told already, the tiny teeny negative will be overlooked by us when we we fully indulge in the story!
